Portable Appliance Testing

Current legislation, outlined in the following four Regulations, requires all items that have a plug attached should be PAT tested at least once every 12 months.

• The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
• The Management of H & S at Work Regulations 1999
• The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
• The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

Failure to comply with the legislation could result in severe penalties, or in the case of an accident, a legal claim.

Electricity can kill! Each year about 1000 accidents at work including electrical shock burns are reported to the Health & Safety Executive - Make Sure Your Electrical Appliances Are Safe.
